Our Vision

The Digital Platforms Commission envisions a digital future where innovation thrives under accountability, misinformation is replaced by integrity, and users are empowered with security, fairness, and choice across every online platform they use.

Our Mission

To set, enforce, and promote regulatory standards that ensure the safe, fair, and lawful operation of digital platforms operating in the United States. We exist to provide a unified framework that protects users, supports innovation, and holds platform providers to the highest standards of digital governance. Our certification system and 13-point compliance model are designed to bring stability, legitimacy, and trust to the digital space.

What Does the DPC Do?

Certify Digital Platforms

We issue official certification to digital platforms that meet our regulatory criteria. Our certificate is more than a badge — it’s a government-backed seal of trust and compliance.

Monitor for Compliance

Certified platforms undergo periodic reviews, audits, and system checks to ensure ongoing alignment with our 13 Pillars of Compliance.

Investigate and Enforce

When violations occur — whether it’s failure to remove harmful content or misuse of user data — we act swiftly with legal enforcement. This can include penalties, shutdowns, or suspension of access within U.S. territory.

Guide Platform Operators

We provide resources, guidance, and compliance documentation to help startups and established platforms build trust-first infrastructure.

Educate the Public

Through our Newsroom, Public Alerts, and Platform Directory, we help users make informed decisions about which digital platforms they can trust.

Why the DPC Matters

Digital platforms are no longer just apps — they are public infrastructure. They influence elections, affect mental health, shape markets, and spread information (or disinformation).
Yet most operate without the same regulatory scrutiny as industries like finance, healthcare, or transportation.

The DPC closes that gap.
We ensure digital platforms:

  • Operate with transparency
  • Respect civil liberties
  • Protect sensitive data
  • Maintain a healthy digital environment for minors and vulnerable users
  • Do not mislead, manipulate, or exploit their users

With the DPC in place, both the public and platform operators gain confidence that digital innovation and user safety can coexist.
