The Digital Platforms Commission (DPC) is committed to upholding digital safety, transparency, and ethical standards across all online platforms. Our authority includes the power to impose civil, administrative, and technical penalties on digital platforms that fail to comply with national regulations.

Whether through negligence, inaction, or intentional misuse, any violation of the DPC’s regulatory framework may result in immediate and escalating enforcement measures.

The Digital Platforms Commission (DPC) is committed to upholding digital safety, transparency, and ethical standards across all online platforms. Our authority includes the power to impose civil, administrative, and technical penalties on digital platforms that fail to comply with national regulations.

Whether through negligence, inaction, or intentional misuse, any violation of the DPC’s regulatory framework may result in immediate and escalating enforcement measures.

Grounds for Enforcement

Violations that may trigger enforcement action include (but are not limited to)

  • Operating a digital platform without valid DPC certification
  • Failing to integrate required compliance APIs (Oversight Node Suite)
  • Misuse or unauthorized sharing of user data
  • Deliberate non-removal of harmful, illegal, or extremist content
  • Ignoring public misinformation mitigation protocols
  • Refusing to comply with legal takedown or audit requests
  • Absence of internal moderation, security, or reporting systems
  • Disregarding children’s digital safety requirements

Types of Penalties Imposed

Depending on the severity and recurrence of the violation, the DPC may enforce one or more of the following actions

Financial Sanctions

  • Civil fines of up to $250,000 per infraction
  • Accrued daily penalties for platforms operating unlawfully
  • Additional fines for breaches involving minors or protected data

Domain and Infrastructure Seizure

  • Request for domain seizure through U.S. registrars (via ICANN protocols)
  • DNS null-routing and propagation blacklisting

Hosting Suspension

  • Coordination with national and global cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to suspend hosting and server access

App Store Delisting

  • Submission of formal requests to remove non-compliant platforms from Apple App Store, Google Play, and third-party marketplaces

Certification Revocation

  • Suspension or full revocation of DPC platform license and compliance badge
  • Public relisting of the platform as Non-Compliant in the DPC Registry

Federal Referral

  • Escalation to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in cases involving national security, fraud, or election interference

Enforcement Protocol

The DPC uses a structured enforcement pipeline to ensure fairness and due process

All enforcement actions are logged, publicly recorded, and included in DPC transparency reports.

Final Notice to Platform Operators

“All digital platforms operating within U.S. digital space must be certified and actively compliant. Platforms that remain unlicensed or fail to meet regulatory obligations within 48 hours of notice may be subject to full deactivation.”
